Washington, DC—The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) is pleased to announce the release of the planning guide/product catalog for the 14th Annual National Assisted Living Week® (NALW) 2008 celebration.

NALW provides assisted living staff with an opportunity to plan activities that center on this year’s theme, “Filling Life With Love.” The theme reflects the daily involvement of caregivers, family members, and volunteers who together build a high quality of care and quality of life for residents in assisted living.

The celebration week also provides assisted living communities with multiple opportunities to fill residents’ lives with meaningful activities that demonstrate how important they are to the staff and local communities.

The planning guide/product catalog contains ideas for activities, such as “Adopt a Soldier,” “Replenishing Our Planet,” or “Music Speaks to the Heart.” This year, the 2008 NALW logo adorns useful and reusable products, such as blankets, tote bags, and the ever-popular t-shirts.

“At the start of each year, assisted living communities from across the nation begin calling call us about NCAL’s plans for National Assisted Living Week,” said David Kyllo, NCAL’s executive director. “As founders of this week, NCAL is happy to provide assisted living communities with a resource that helps them create an exciting, fun-filled, and heartfelt week full of programming for their residents.”

NCAL established NALW® in 1995. NCAL thanks the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AASHA) for its collaborative partnership on NALW for the fifth consecutive year.

The planning guide/product catalog is free and available at www.nalw.org. All NCAL members will receive a copy of the planning guide/product catalog in the mail. Others who wish to receive a copy (while supplies last) through the mail should send an e-mail with your name, the name of the residence, and address to myates@ncal.org.
