Finding an Assisted Living Facility
Finding the right assisted living or residential care facility for yourself or a loved one is an important decision. After you have determined the kind of services you or your loved one needs, you should obtain or develop a list of assisted living facilities in your area offering those services.
Your hospital discharge planner, personal physician, case manager, clergy, social worker, financial planner and friends may be familiar with area facilities. In addition, your state's NCAL affiliate office can provide you with information to assist you with your search.
The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) encourages consumers to refer to our consumer guide, found at www.longtermcareliving.com. NCAL recommends that you visit more than one facility and that you take time to speak with the facility administrator or manager about your needs or the needs of a loved one. Above all, do not hesitate to ask questions!
